Floating counterpoint

The genre floating counterpoint is a form of composition reconciling the historical and contemporary music of Western, Arabian, African and Asian cultures. According to Pythagoras and the ancient Egyptians, the whole cosmos is number and harmony.
World music is cosmic music and beings anywhere in this universe have a sense of proportion.

The genre Floating Counterpoint designates the arrangement of the constellation of the musical fundamentals. This form of music experiments with the harmonic, melodic and rhythmic elements of music. Preferable techniques are those of the medieval sound system, the counterpoint, serial techniques and the combination of two or more keys.

In the twentieth and the twenty-first century the tonal implication gave way to patterns, the counterpoint and the form which gained impact. The main element of floating minimal music is not repetition, but a development based on the syntax and semantics of a language called music. It is very detailed and focuses on the essential at the same time. Floating minimal music is the reduction of music to its essence. Because it is a conceptual and a procedural form of music it is open to improvisation and development. The forms and compositional techniques of this sub-genre can be unique and innovative. New and traditional methods of composing are combined and conventional and electronic instruments meet consensually.

Zahra M.M.A. Sadiq is the first musician creating music of this new genre. Among the qualities that make this music exceptional are the unique experimental forms of floating counterpoint and the reinterpretation of compositional techniques characterized by colourful harmonics, the extended tonality of the early moderns and contemporary music, the elaborate counterpoint and highly structured serial techniques.
